Chipping Away at the New Album

Ok guys, so I had a little bit of a set back. I recorded all the guitars for the album, but they weren’t in tune with the bass. So…I’ve spent the last couple of weeks redoing all the guitars. But the good news is I’m almost done with that.
Next up is percussion and harmonica!

Geez I hope all this work pays off!

In the meantime, catch me at Grape in the Fog, Third Thursdays from 7-9pm, and Cafe Classique, Second Saturdays 9:30-11:30am.

Peace and Love,

Heather S. Rose

Recording the New Album!

I am very happy to say that last weekend me and the band completed the recording of the drums and bass for my new album!
This is a BIG step in the recording process. The guys and I (Jay Van Dyke on drums and Matt Roads on bass) worked for about a month on setting the right groove for each song. Doesn’t matter how many bells and whistles you throw at it. If the groove isn’t there, the whole song suffers. I feel very relieved having completed this major step. Now recording the rest of the album will be a breeze.

Next step, recording guitars!
For this step I’ll be doing a lot of experimentation. I’ll be recording the guitars at my home studio, so I’ll have more time to explore my different options. I have a lot of guitars, and each one has its own unique sound. So playing around to see which guitars will fit best on which songs will be fun!

Peace and Love,
Heather S. Rose

California is Released!

Well the day has finally come when I can say, “My Solo Acoustic album is up for sale!”

God that feels good. Some of the songs I wrote 3 years ago! I re-recorded this album three times. Sometimes perfection gets in the way of progress. But now it’s finally done, and I’m proud of it!

It’s a great collection of songs. It’s funny, coming from a rock n’ roll past how bluesy and jazzy this record sounds. Berklee influence perhaps?

Thanks again to Steve Yelick and Ed Goldfarb for all your mixing tips. Thanks to Mike Wells for your mastering services. And thank you to Ray Zhou, Jerry Liu, Matthias McIntire and Rich Healy for your playing talents.

Check it out and let me know what you think!
