After many decades of fighting, love has finally won in the United States. I am very glad to say it made my day on Friday June 26th 2015 that the Supreme Court ruled that same sex marriages must be recognized by all states.
All though this is a very exciting day for all who support equal rights, I can’t believe this issue made it all the way to the Supreme Court. This issue should never have arisen in the first place. This country was literally founded on separation of church and state. Illegalizing same sex marriage based on the word of the Christian Church literally goes against our country’s values.
People are free to believe what they want and the church is free to practice what it wants. But our government has no right to create laws based on one church’s view. Especially if it results in stripping a specific group of people of their rights.
