Nigeria has just band genital mutilation. Genital mutilation is nothing short of barbaric. I am so glad that I live in a country that protects me from horrible realities such as this one. Unfortunately so many others aren’t so lucky. The first step to helping them is awareness. I truly hope the Nigerian government enforces this new law and no girl should ever have to experience this brutality again. I also hope other countries who’s culture’s consider this procedure “traditional” will follow in Nigeria’s footsteps.
